Culture of Malaysia

The province of Malaysia is inhabited by around twenty-three million people, with 60% of them being Malay, 25% being Chinese, 10% Indians and the remaining 5% being other minorities. The social strata is divided between the Malay elites & the Chinese middle class who dominate Malaysia's socio-political scenario. The Malays follow the religion of Islam, making Malaysia officially a Muslim country, hence refrain from gifting them pork-related edibles. Yet Malaysia Government grants public holidays on occasions like Christmas, Deepawali, Moon Cake Festival, Thaipusam , wesak day & Hari Raya Aidilfitri. In Malay culture, men generally don’t shake hands with women upon meeting, but bow their head instead. A simple nodding & smiling would be sufficient.
